In-Service Worship Announcement

Happy New Year
I greet you in the name of our God who calls us friend and bids us to be Kingdom builders. I pray that you and your family are doing well at the start of this New Year. It is my hope and prayer that you are being wise and remaining safe while we all journey through this cold and flu season together. As you are aware, the COVID exposure rates have increased tremendously with delta and the New Omicron variant. Additionally, we have yet to see the peak of numbers related to holiday events and travel. We also have not even hit the strides of the winter months where cold and flu are at their height.

As your pastor, I am not only tasked with the responsibility of speaking life, but I also have the burden of being a wise steward over your life. Along with this task, I am tasked with making difficult decisions that pertain to the spiritual and physical health of God’s people. Therefore, I am writing to inform you of my pastoral decision to suspend in-person worship until further notice. All services will be virtual only, on all our streaming platforms. Since March 2020, EMZBC has been committed to prioritizing your safety and well-being, and we will continue to rely upon the Spirit’s guidance and science in our decision-making. These are not easy decisions, but your safety is our primary concern, and thanks to the growth of our digital technology and media team we can remain connected.

We urge you to use wisdom and caution to avoid exposing yourself and others to potential infection. We also encourage you to wear your mask, get vaccinated, receive the booster shot, and/or take a COVID-19 test if you are experiencing symptoms. For additional information regarding COVID numbers, testing and vaccinations, please visit CCBH. We invite you to join us for virtual worship on Sunday mornings on the platform of your choice. We will continue to update you as we navigate these unprecedented times.

Protect Your Season

August 18, 2024 - by Rev. Brian A. Cash, Pastor

Exodus 1:6-22

Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, but the Israelites were exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them.

Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt. “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous for us. 10 Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.”

11 So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh. 12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites 13 and worked them ruthlessly. 14 They made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly.

15 The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, 16 “When you are helping the Hebrew women during childbirth on the delivery stool, if you see that the baby is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.” 17 The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. 18 Then the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?”

19 The midwives answered Pharaoh, “Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive.”

20 So God was kind to the midwives and the people increased and became even more numerous. 21 And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.

22 Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.
